Meet Your All-Star Game Co-Captains

Meet our 2013 Ultimate Fan Fantasy winners: 15-year-old Frank Ranfone of Guilford, Conn., and 17-year-old Cameron MacKenzie of St. Charles, Ill.

Frank and Cameron were selected from a group of 20 UFF finalists who were asked to submit a creative statement, picture, or video explaining why they should be chosen as the Ultimate MLL Fan.  As winners, Frank and Cameron are honorary team captains, and will have the chance to select their very own All-Star squads.  The pair will lead their teams on to the field at the start of Saturday night’s game and have direct access to meet and learn from the players throughout the weekend.

Frank Ranfone is proud to be a self-proclaimed lacrosse addict, “I eat, sleep, and breathe lacrosse.”  Frank has been playing lacrosse for as long as he can remember.  After putting down a baseball bat in third grade, he picked up a stick and never looked back.  A few years ago, Frank attended his first MLL game while at a lacrosse tournament on Long Island.  After seeing the Lizards play, Frank couldn’t get enough of the fast paced action and impressive 2-point shots.  The love and dedication the players had for their sport made Major League Lacrosse the only thing Frank could think about.

Frank plays lacrosse for the Guilford Indians and Connecticut Seminoles.  His favorite MLL team is the Charlotte Hounds, he even predicted a Hounds vs. Bayhawks Championship Weekend showdown.  In the rare moments when Frank isn’t playing lacrosse or cheering on the Hounds, he enjoys spending time with his friends, family, and his dog Dash.

Cameron first started playing lacrosse when he was in seventh grade and has been playing ever since, “from the first time I got a stick in my hand, I was hooked.”  Cameron first started following the MLL because he realized that through watching high level lacrosse games, he could learn how the game was supposed to be played and improve on his own skill set.  Cameron hopes that he can continue to learn from his favorite MLL players at the All-Star game, “just being on the sidelines to see the best lacrosse players participate will encourage me to continue working hard on my game.”

Cameron, a rising high school senior, plays for the varsity team for St. Charles North High School as well as the New Wave club team.  When Cameron isn’t playing lacrosse he is watching the MLL.  His favorite team is the New York Lizards.  In his spare time Cameron also coaches boys’ lacrosse and enjoys playing on his school’s football team.

While Cameron and Frank are very happy to speak about their excitement for lacrosse and the MLL, both captains are tight lipped regarding their strategies about drafting their All-Star teams.  Cameron focused on determining which players will work well together to build the best team possible.  Frank prepared by creating tables for every player, detailing important statistical information about his top player picks.

Best of luck to Cameron and Frank this weekend at the All-Star Game!  Here is a little more information on our captains:

Cameron:

Who are your top three All-Star picks?

Again, I don’t want to give away my strategy but I can say that some of my favorite offensive stars include Rob Pannell, Chris Bocklet, Kevin Crowley, and Illinois native Steven Brooks.

Who is your favorite MLL team and player?

The New York Lizards have been a favorite team of mine and I was really excited when they picked up Pannell because he was so exciting to watch at Cornell.
